BCD Meetings & Events has appointed Thiago Araujo to the newly created position of global sustainability director.
Araujo’s role within the TMC’s meetings and events arm will see him “formalise” its sustainability mission and take its commitments “to the next level”, the company said.
Based in France and with more than 15 years’ experience in business development and sustainability management, Araujo will lead the company’s sustainability strategy by aligning operations with environmental and social goals, managing sustainable partnerships and delivering training.
Prior to joining BCD, Araujo served as sustainability manager at Volvo Group, as project and account director at GL Events, and also worked as an engagement specialist at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, where he led sustainability initiatives.
Commenting on his new role, Araujo said: “I’m focused on embedding sustainability into every level of the organisation, ensuring we not only meet compliance requirements but also lead with innovation and collective impact.”
Araujo will report directly to BCD M&E’s SVP people and culture, Audrey Lambert, and work closely with the BCD Travel sustainability department as well as its consulting division Advito.
