BCD Travel is pursuing growth in the Nordic countries following investment in its teams and technology in the region.
A key driver of growth in the region is its investment in travel planning and trip management platform TripSource, according to the company.
A new partnership with Danish travel tech company SoftInventor now enables BCD to offer a regional online booking tool, TripRacer, and provide Norwegian rail content to customers in the Nordics, in addition to existing rail and ground transportation content in Sweden.
“This new booking tool offers all regional requirements of payment solutions and rail and ground transportation needs, as well as a market-leading booking process flow,” said Thomas Aden, managing director and vice president, Nordics, at BCD.
“With this new tool in place we will be able to attract new clients. It’s available to anyone operating in the Nordics so global customers can deploy it here and take a best-in-market approach.”
BCD is looking to further enhance its capabilities in the Nordics and to add Finnish and Danish rail content too, said Aden. “We are investing in growth in the Nordic markets,” he said. “That
means capability in OBTs but it also means we’re recruiting more people
in the region.”
Aden noted that while travel volumes in the Nordic countries remain notably below pre-Covid levels, a decline in air travel began before the pandemic with the rise of ‘flygskam’, or flight-shame. “Some corporates forbid domestic air travel, so if you travel you travel by train.”
