Hyatt is stepping up its presence in the UK as a “priority growth market” with new hotels expected to add more than 1,000 rooms to its portfolio by the end of 2026.
The Chicago-based hotel firm opened the dual-branded Hyatt Place Leeds and Hyatt House Leeds in Yorkshire earlier this month, which has added a total of 305 rooms to its existing UK footprint of 17 hotels.
This will be followed by the upcoming debuts of Hyatt Place London Paddington (87 rooms) and Hyatt Regency London Olympia (200-plus rooms) in the UK capital. They will join Park Hyatt London River Thames, which opened in October 2024.
Hyatt said that business travel had been a “key trend” in fuelling its growth in the UK, including higher demand for meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions. The UK is Hyatt’s third largest market in Europe behind Germany and Spain.
Anna Corkill, Hyatt’s regional vice president of development for the UK and Ireland, said: “The UK remains a priority growth market for Hyatt. We are committed to expanding our portfolio of brands in locations that matter most to our guests, members, customers and owners.
“Following the openings of Hyatt Place Leeds and Hyatt House Leeds earlier this month, and with upcoming openings in London, we are bringing our renowned hospitality to even more travellers. Sustaining momentum is key, but we want to grow sensibly and intentionally.”
Corkill added that Hyatt saw “great potential” in cities such as Oxford, Cambridge, Liverpool, Newcastle, Glasgow, Cardiff, York, Bath and Belfast.
The new dual-branded Leeds property features an 88-room Hyatt House, which is designed for extended stay guests, with “apartment-style” amenities such as a kitchenette and separate living and sleeping areas. Shared facilities include a restaurant, rooftop bar, shop, meeting spaces and a fitness centre.
