Icelandair has launched flights between its Reykjavik base and Nashville in Tennessee, which becomes the carrier’s 18th North American destination.
The Nordic airline operated its first flight to Nashville, known as “Music City”, on Friday (11 April). It will offer four flights per week until the end of October.
Icelandair is using Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, equipped with its Saga Premium and economy seats, on the new route with flights to Nashville on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
The carrier has also extended an interline agreement with Southwest Airlines, which is the largest airline operating at Nashville International Airport with flights to around 90 destinations across North America.
Tomas Ingason, Icelandair’s chief commercial officer, added: “This new connection links Music City to Iceland and on to our nearly 40 destinations across Europe.
“We also announce an expansion to our partnership with Southwest Airlines, allowing travellers to connect between Southwest and Icelandair via Nashville and Denver onwards to Iceland and Europe. This is in addition to the new Baltimore gateway.”
