Accor’s “midscale” Novotel brand is to continue its expansion across Europe this year, including the debut of its first hotels in Malta and Croatia.
Novotel is also opening new properties in the major European markets of Spain, France and Germany as part of the brand’s “strategic expansion” in the region.
The 170-room Novotel Zagreb in the Croatian capital is due to open in May and will be followed by Novotel Malta Sliema (293 rooms) on the Mediterranean island in June.
The brand has already opened Novotel Valencia Lavant in the Spanish city. The 370-room property is located close to Valencia’s Palacio de Congresos conference centre.
The opening of Novotel Hamburg HafenCity is scheduled for the second half of 2025 when it will become the brand’s 27th property in Germany. The 163-room in central Hamburg will complement the Novotel Hamburg Central Station, which opened next to the city’s main rail station last year.
Novotel Paris La Déf Nanterre will be the brand’s next opening in the French capital in summer 2025. The 170-room hotel in Paris’ La Défense business district will also offer a range of meeting spaces.
Philippe Bijaoui, Accor’s chief development officer Europe & North Africa for premium, midscale and economy brands, said: “Novotel’s strategic expansion across Europe underscores our commitment to the brand’s growth and innovation.
“Our strategy centres on offering versatile spaces that seamlessly integrate business and leisure, enabling guests to relax, connect and focus on what matters. As we grow, Novotel remains dedicated to shaping the future of travel with a balanced, experience-led approach that resonates with modern travellers.”
Novotel, which was launched in France in 1967, currently has a portfolio of around 600 hotels worldwide, including more than 300 locations in 24 countries across Europe. The brand also has more than 180 properties in its development pipeline.
