Advito, the consultancy division of BCD Travel, and technology company Tripkicks have introduced a carbon footprint tracker that integrates personalised emissions data into Concur's online booking tool, according to the companies.
Known as Carbon Footprints, the integration utilises Advito’s GATE4 methodology and Tripkicks technology to display year-to-date air travel carbon emissions for individual travellers and comparative trends versus prior years.
It also includes an option to align ‘real-time’ tracking to a CO2 budget and features "relatable" CO2 equivalencies, which, the companies said, provide travellers with “a tangible understanding of their ongoing environmental impact”.
The tool was developed in partnership with the companies’ joint clients, such as Bloomberg, and builds on their existing partnership, which includes a 2023 Concur integration to display emissions data in air, hotel and rail search results.
Rafael Rosario, global travel manager at Bloomberg, and early adopter of the tool, said: “Advito and Tripkicks have built something that does not exist in our industry: a solution that goes beyond abstract numbers and creates a meaningful connection between our travellers’ actions and company-wide goals.”
Julien Etchanchu, senior director of Advito’s sustainable collaboration practice, said the turnkey solution offers corporates “a simple, effective way to bridge the gap between sustainability metrics and traveller behaviour”.
“For the first time, travellers can see how their actions have an impact on emissions when they are making travel booking decisions," he added.
Carbon Footprints is available as a Tripkicks connection and was built to work alongside the existing GATE4 connection, the companies said. The integration is currently only available with Concur, but will be expanded to other online booking tools "later this year".
