11 March: IHG Hotels & Resorts has opened its first “net zero” property, Voco Zeal Exeter Science Park, in the UK. The 142-room hotel in Exeter has been designed to operate entirely on renewable and solar energy. The property has been developed through a partnership with sustainability specialist Zeal Hotels and Valor Hospitality. More details here
19 February: The former InterContinental Prague will reopen as the Fairmont Golden Prague this spring following a comprehensive, multi-year refurbishment. First opened as a hotel in 1974, the brutalist building is located on Pařížská Boulevard. 13 February: The luxury Nobu Hotel Group will open its first hotel in Italy this summer, the Nobu Hotel Roma. The new property, located on the capital city's Via Veneto, will feature 122 guestrooms and suites across merged 19th century buildings and feature the group's 'signature Japanese minimalist' style. It will also feature a rooftop restaurant, meetings spaces, spa and fitness centre.
10 February: Aparthotel specialist Staycity Group has announced plans to open its first property in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The 98-room property will feature a range of studio and one-bedroom units when it opens in a converted office building in 2026. It will also feature a reception, bar, restaurant and shop. The Hampton by Hilton Tallinn has opened in Estonia’s
capital city. It is located a ten-minute drive from the city’s airport and a
20-minute walk from Tallinn’s historic city centre. The hotel has 184 guestrooms, including accessible rooms, a restaurant,
fitness centre, sauna and two meeting rooms (with a total event space of 89sqm), and guests receive a complimentary hot breakfast.
29 January: The Andaz Lisbon will open in the Portguese capital city in Q1. Located at Praça do Comércio, the luxury hotel from Hyatt will comprise 256 guestrooms, signature rooftop restaurant Luzzi, an Andaz Lounge, and fitness centre, with details of a spa to be confirmed. Opening later in the year, in Q2, is the Hyatt Centric Reims (pictured), close to the French city's congress centre.
28 January: Hyatt is converting the Hotel G Gothenburg into a Hyatt Place (pictured) hotel in Q1 this year. The 300-guestroom property is located next to the Central Station in Sweden's second city. In the UK, a dual-branded Hyatt House and Hyatt Place property is opening soon in Leeds with reservations available from 10 March. It is located in Sovereign Square, close to the city's main train station.

16 January 2025: Ruby Hotels will open its first property in Hungary next year via a partnership with the Balogh family that will see the transformation of the historic Corvin Palace in Budapest. The mixed use conversion of the city’s oldest department story will feature 181 guestrooms alongside retail units and restaurants. The hotel will occupy four floors of the building with public areas – including a bar and lounge – located on the fifth floor.
15 January 2025: Marriott Hotels has opened its first property in Turkey’s Cappadocia region. Located near the UNESCO-listed Göreme National Park, the 298-room Cappadocia Marriott Hotel features a fitness centre, pools and a spa with Turkish baths, three dining venues and more than 3,300 sqm of meeting space. There’s also a signature M Club lounge available “every day at any time” for guests staying in an M Club room or suite.

14 January: Hilton is adding four hotels in Lyon, France, after signing franchise agreements with Arteloge. The Spark by Hilton Lyon Ouest and Spark by Hilton Lyon Park Saone are set to open in late 2025, with Spark by Hilton Lyon Eurexpo due to open in the summer of 2026. The DoubleTree by Hilton Lyon Plage (pictured) is due to welcome guests in 2028. In total, the four hotels will have a combined 655 rooms.
13 January 2025: Rocco Forte Hotels will open its second property in Milan – and tenth in Italy – later this year, The Carlton Milan. It follows the opening of the Rocco Forte House Milan in September 2024. The Carlton Milan will have around 70 guestrooms and suites, a restaurant, lounge bar, wellness centre, gym and rooftop bar, and is slated to open in late summer.
8 January: Mövenpick will open its first hotels in Poland this January, the Mövenpick Grand Hotel Wrocław (pictured) and Mövenpick Resort & Spa Karpacz. The former, in the centre of Wrocław, is situated in a fully renovated historic building and features 180 upscale guest rooms. The latter is a resort hotel with access to ski slopes and hiking trails. Further openings from the brand this year include hotels in Budapest, Palermo and Bari.
7 January 2025: Resident Hotels has opened its first property in Scotland with the debut of The Resident Edinburgh. The property features 164 rooms, each fitted with mini-kitchens, and is based in a building formerly occupied by UK tax authority HMRC. Facilities also include a lounge and library. Resident already has four hotels in London and one in Liverpool. More details here
7 January 2025: Premier Inn owner Whitbread is planning to open a 212-bedroom hub by Premier Inn in London’s financial district next year. Hub by Premier Inn Old Bailey is set to open in early 2026 in a converted building that was formerly used as a police station. The property is one of three locations in central London that the company is currently developing into new hotels. More details here
6 January 2025: UK-based Village Hotels announced
the acquisition of the former Crowne Plaza at Caversham Bridge, Reading, which
it will “transform” through a multi-million-pound investment renovation. An
opening date was not specified. The group is also upgrading more than 50 per cent of its portfolio. It operates 33 hotels and leisure clubs
in the UK.
