Resident Hotels has opened its first property in Scotland with the debut of The Resident Edinburgh.
The independent upmarket chain already has five UK properties, including four locations in London and one in Liverpool. The brand aims to create a “home-like environment enhanced by personalised local recommendations” from staff.
The Resident Edinburgh features 164 rooms, each fitted with mini-kitchens, and is based in a building formerly occupied by UK tax authority HMRC. Facilities also include a lounge and library.
David Orr, CEO of Resident Hotels Ltd, said: “We have been longing to let our lovely team bring our heartfelt hospitality to Edinburgh.
“The hotel featured in COP26 - highlighting our thoughtful approach to sustainability, synchronising the repurposing of a 1960s building with sustainable redevelopment.
“Our guests tend to visit for a little longer, investing more time in the city, meaning we are well placed to align with a vision of visitation that is positive and valuable to the city.”
Resident Hotels already operates hotels in London’s Covent Garden, Kensington, Soho and Victoria districts, as well as in the Ropewalks area of Liverpool.
The company also currently runs four hotels under its midscale brands, Sleeperz and Cityroomz, in the UK which will be transitioning to Marriott International’s Four Points Flex by Sheraton banner under a new franchise agreement. These properties are located in Cardiff, Dundee, Edinburgh and Newcastle.
