Italian high-speed rail operator Italo and ride-hailing specialist Uber have expanded an existing partnership to offer integrated transport services across 12 Italian cities.
Following an initial launch in Rome and Milan last June, the partnership now allows Italo passengers to book Uber transfers to and from select stations in Turin, Naples, Bologna, Florence, Padua, Treviso, Verona, Vicenza, Venice and Trieste.
Transfer bookings can be made via the Italo or Uber app from 90 days up to 1 hour before train departure or arrival.
Commenting on the expanded partnership, Italo chief commercial officer, Fabrizio Bona, said: "Following the success achieved in the cities of Rome and Milan by the synergy with Uber, we have decided to expand it, involving new cities in our network. The goal is to offer complete solutions to our travellers, with the ability to also facilitate last mile transfers.”
The two companies also reported a “significant increase” in bookings to and from rail stations in Rome and Milan following the June 2024 launch.
