Sabre has launched NDC-based content from Spanish carrier Iberia through its global distribution system (GDS).
The move comes a few weeks after Sabre went live with NDC content from Iberia’s sister airline British Airways on its platforms. Both carriers are part of IAG.
Agencies using Sabre platforms now have access to Iberia’s NDC offers including the ability to compare flights “with greater efficiency and transparency”.
Celia Muñoz Espín, commercial strategy and distribution director at Iberia, said "Activating our NDC connection in Sabre's global travel marketplace marks an important step in Iberia's evolving distribution strategy.
"By leveraging Sabre's extensive network and NDC capabilities, we can deliver even greater value and service through access to our NDC products and fares to travellers worldwide."
Kathy Morgan, Sabre Travel Solutions’ senior vice president of product management – distribution experience, added: "We are laser-focused on making NDC work at scale – seamlessly integrating it into agency workflows so airlines can distribute richer, more personalised offers while ensuring agencies can easily shop, book and service that content.”
Sabre has also this week announced a deal to sell Sabre Hospitality Solutions, its hotel reservation technology unit, to private equity and investment firm TPG for $1.1 billion.
TPG will operate Hospitality Solutions as a separate business. The sale does not include Sabre's B2B hotel distribution business, which the tech firm called a "strategic area of investment".
Sabre expects to net $960 million in cash from the sale, which it plans to use "primarily to pay down debt, enabling Sabre to improve its balance sheet, optimise focus on its core business, and continue its focus on long-term sustainable growth".
Sabre developed Hospitality Solutions following its acquisition in 2005 of reservation technology firm SynXis. The sale, which is subject to regulatory approval, is expected to be completed in the third quarter.
