Ian Spearing is the new global travel director at Netherlands-based Arcadis
Travel technology leader and former EY travel manager Ian Spearing has joined design, engineering and consultancy company Arcadis as global travel director.
Spearing returns to the corporate sphere after establishing Travel Evolution Consulting in January 2024 and working as chief commercial officer for decentralised traveller identity network, Travlr ID.
In his new role, Spearing said he will focus on “creating a connected, future-ready travel experience for Arcadis employees, while building a strong ecosystem to navigate the complexities and fragmentation of the market”.
Nikki Parsons now oversees global travel at Jane Street
“A key part of that is working towards the vision of a digitalised travel manager role — one that is empowered by intelligent tools, real-time insights, and automated processes, enabling the function to become more strategic, agile, and responsive to both business and traveller needs,” he added.
Spearing, who was named a Best Practitioner at BTN's Travel Manager of the Year awards in 2023, takes over from Nikki Parsons, who recently joined US-based trading firm Jane Street as global travel head.
Before joining Arcadis in 2021, Parsons was global head of travel and meetings at AIG for nine years, as well as previously holding travel management positions with Merrill Lynch and Standard Bank in London, and Citi in Singapore.
Additionally, Parsons’ current tenure as chair of the UK’s Institute of Travel management (ITM) will come to an end next month when Omnicom VP of global corporate travel, Gemma King, will step into the role.
