Budget hotel chain Travelodge has boosted its UK presence by acquiring 11 existing properties across the country.
The brand, which already has 588 hotels operating in the UK, said it was taking over nine former Hotel Campanile properties in locations such as Birmingham, Bradford, Leicester, Manchester, Northampton and Milton Keynes.
Travelodge has also agreed a 25-year lease for a former Ibis hotel in Bromsgrove, which is due to reopen in May following a refit.
While a property in Wakefield, which was previously the independent CitiLodge hotel, will be added to Travelodge’s portfolio in August after undergoing conversion by the owner.
Travelodge has recently converted a former Ibis hotel in Bromley, which reopened under its new branding in March.
Steve Bennett, chief property and development officer at Travelodge, said: “There are still many locations throughout the UK and Spain where we can open a new Travelodge hotel to provide great value and quality accommodation.
“Acquisitions of properties which can be rebranded to Travelodge are a key part of our development strategy, as we look to continue to grow our footprint. We have a requirement to open over a further 300 hotels across the UK and are seeking prime opportunities when they become available.”
