Virgin Group founder Richard Branson has officially unveiled Virgin Hotels’ first hotel in London following a phased refurbishment.
The 120-room Virgin Hotels London-Shoreditch, formerly known as the Mondrian Shoreditch, opened under its new branding in August 2024 before undergoing renovation.
Branson said: “It’s a beautiful hotel in the heart of the capital. It’s fantastic that when travellers step off our planes in London, they now have somewhere to rest their head and the wonderful Virgin experience continues.
“London is where we started Virgin more than 50 years ago, and it feels really special to mark the opening of our first hotel here.”
Facilities at the revamped hotel include new suites, a rooftop pool, restaurant and club, plus a gym and the Hidden Grooves bar, which plays on the history of Virgin Records and features rare records and “album-themed” cocktails.
“It’s a tribute to Virgin’s music roots,” added Branson. “We built our name on records – now inside our beautiful new hotel, we’ve built a space where people can enjoy them again.”
Virgin also plans to open a new “signature” restaurant at the hotel in the coming weeks.
Virgin Hotels London-Shoreditch is the 17th property within the Virgin Hotels Collection.
