Budget carrier Wizz Air has announced changes to its Discount Club, adding benefits such as enhanced customer care services and personalised offers, while also increasing membership costs.
The move is part of the Hungary-based airline’s £12 billion “transformation” plan, announced earlier this month, and is a direct result of customer feedback and “ongoing dialogue with passengers”.
In addition to fare discounts, members of the WIZZ Discount Club (WDC) will now have access to promotional offers and “enhanced” partner benefits, “exclusive” offers to mark anniversaries and birthdays, and will also be given “priority” in customer care queues, according to the airline.
Wizz Air corporate communications manager, Olivia Harangozo, said: “By integrating features like personalised offers, service prioritisation and dedicated promotions, we’re moving closer to a model where loyalty means tailored experiences and added care throughout the customer journey.”
A standard WDC membership now costs €59.99 per year – an increase of €20 compared to the previous annual fee – while the ‘standard plus’ membership, which was previously extended to groups of six for €69.99 per year, is now offered to groups of five for €99.99 per year.
The recently introduced premium WDC membership programme, which includes added perks such priority boarding and premium seat selection, now costs €389.99 per year, up €40 from the previous rate.
The airline said existing WDC members will be informed of the changes, which are bring rolled out this week, with the ability to exit the programme with a pro-rata refund.
